RELEASE DAY! ASK THE GIRL by KIM BARTOSCH

Supernatural Central Short and Quick Interview

1. Tell me a little bit about your main character of this book.

One of the main characters in my book is Lila Sadler, who suffers from bipolar disorder and must save her younger sister, Rose from the ghost of Kate Watkins. Lila is trying to cope with her diagnosis and the death of her father, who was bipolar and committed suicide. She makes many poor choices in her grief but now she must put that to the side to help her sister. I like Lila’s strength and I hope she gives hope to other young women who are trying to cope with depression, bipolar disorder, or anxiety. My inspiration for Lila came from my sister who also struggles with bipolar disorder and my aunt who also has a mental illness and has been institutionalized since the age of 14.

2. Do you believe in the paranormal and if so, do you have an experience you can share?

Yes, I do. There is so much we don’t know about what happens after death. Whether ghosts are cursed souls wandering our world or from an alternate universe, I believe they exist. The best example of an encounter for me was when my sister and I went on a ghost tour of The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, which is considered one of the most active haunted hotels in America. The Crescent Hotel used to be a cancer hospital in the late 1800s and early 1900s promising a cure from the springs, of course, it wasn’t so many men, women, and children died in terrible, excruciating pain as their cancer grew. When we went into what used to be the cancer ward of the hotel my sister took a picture in one of the rooms after everyone left. In the far right corner, there is a shadowy figure. We debunked every possibility and do believe it was a spirit.

3. What titles are you working on now that you can tell us about?

Currently, I’m working on a young adult psychological thriller about twin sisters, “The Sister I Never Had” and young adult fantasy, Norse mythology love story – still debating on the title for this one. I haven’t sold these books yet but I’m hoping to find an agent first to help me with this.

(Here is the image I mentioned in question 2 if you would like to include it on your blog. It’s not the best photo so I will leave that up to you if you want to include it.)

Thank you so much for your interview and for including me on your blog! Best, Kim
