We're settling down to take a look at a cozy little paranormal mystery today. Grab your blanket and come join author Melanie Snow as we talk all things supernatural. Welcome, Melanie.
SC: Tell us something about your main character of this book.
MS: I am the author of the paranormal cozy mystery series, The Spellwood Witches. The Witch’s Tail is the first book in the series. The story first takes place in NYC but quickly shifts to the small paranormal town of Witchland, NH where the witches rule and the faeries are real. I based the stories in these books around a few of my true life adventures with the paranormal and actual life. Sarah is the protagonist, and she is a lot like me—it was a lot of fun to bring her wants, desires, and needs to life. Watching her transform and grow with each book was an amazing experience as an author. I loved hanging out with her. I guess that is a good thing because her growth paralleled much of mine. And it’s always nice to appreciate one’s own journey.
Overall, it’s about the protagonist’s growth with some challenging life lessons—hmmmmm, sounds about right.
SC: Okay, so obviously you DO believe in the paranormal.
MS: Yes, I believe in the paranormal. I work as a professional animal communicator and medium, so working in this realm is comfortable to me. I have had many experiences since I was five. Recently they occur while hiking with my dog Addie—she is a conduit for spiritual energy—especially with the animal kingdom.
But regarding my series, it would be my character Clover Figcreek. I was hiking on my favorite mountain, which is in the series sporting its paranormal name. When I got to the top and I was working on character development with my intuitive spirit team, I caught a glimpse of some tiny little bits of energy hanging out on a low bush. I hung out with that energy for a while and suddenly, I “saw” these little faeries. The main one was the most vocal. When she revealed herself—whoa—she was snarky, fun, and full of opinions. She demanded to be in the series. Hence, Addie and I got the entire download in one sitting. Clover Figcreek always visits me on that mountain and yes, you have to say her entire name.
SC: What titles are you working on now that you can tell us about?
MS: I am finishing up book four in this series. Witchland is full up paranormal with a plethora of magical animals. Yet they go missing one-by-one. Because Sarah relies on her gut instinct to make the world a better place, she finds herself challenged as to why someone needs to sequester all the magical creatures of Witchland.
SC: Sounds like a busy schedule. Thanks for chatting, we'll take a look at this book now.
