THE RAVENERS by LD Towers

Hello and welcome to Meusday. Meusdays are the dreaded Monday/Tuesday combo that some of us have come to hate because we have twice as much work to do on this day.

Did you enjoy the long weekend in Canada (Thanksgiving) and the States (Memorial Day)?

Those of you who have read Helens-of-Troy (see shameless freebie to the right) know that we have a special place in our hearts for Goth-Chics. Our author today may or may not be a Goth, but she's rockin' the blue hair, that's for sure, (you'll see below) so we're giving her a big thumbs up right from the get-go.

LD has a book she wants to share with us today, and it's call the RAVENERS. A title like that brings Hitchcockian images to mind already, non?

That's my imagination working overtime. Here's LD's description of her story:

On 26 May 1897, Bram Stoker brought us the story of Dracula; an undead creature who terrorised the living by drinking their blood. He based his creature on the legends of Ireland and Eastern Europe, bringing it to life with all the pomp of Victorian literature. What if his concept was correct, but the execution was not? What if there was not one creature, but a band of twenty-four? Crusader knights who committed such a terrible act that the Pope of Rome and the Rabbis of Jerusalem joined together in petitioning God to bring a terrible curse upon them.Sentenced to eternal life as punishment for their crimes, yet hounded by both the clerical and the secular as they struggle to live them. The Jews called them Ga’ashekelah: the Raveners. To the Catholic Church, they are the Accursed Ones. Feasting on the bodies of the living to maintain their power.
What starts as a simple trip on the Eurostar to the buried trenches of World War One in Northern France is going to take Imperial War Museum expert Dr. Alexandra Horne on a journey she could never have conceived. From the bustling streets of Paris to the azure waters of Collioure and the very Vatican itself, Lexa will discover the Raveners and those who have sworn to hunt them down.

LD Towers travels the world like a rootless vagabond! A military historian, she searches out places of conflict to find a deeper insight to the things she writes about. Presently enjoying the warm weather and azure seas of Central America, she has lived all over Western Europe, including 5.5 years in the incomparable Berlin.
Primarily working in Historical and Military Fiction, LD sometimes sneaks in the odd Dystopian or Modern Thriller piece. In fact, her new book is a complete redo on the vampire concept. Look for The Raveners; coming September 20, 2016.

RELEASE WEEKEND: NIGHTMARE ON JACEY STREET eBook version

Shameless promotion weekend here for moi. It's Thanksgiving weekend for those of us in Canada. Thanksgiving is kind of a strange holiday in that it's in October for us Canucks, but in November for the Yanks. Someone made that decision a long time ago, and for now we are stuck with it.

For those of you who have read the first book in the series, Helens-of-Troy, you know it happens on Halloween. The series follows the American calendar, but Canadians can take some comfort in the fact that this weekend, the eBook of the sequel is now available! So excited. If you missed the first book, you can click on the icon to the right and get your freebie. That's right, I said freebie. For the FIRST book.

The sequel takes place a month later when things are just beginning to settle back down in the town of Troy. Helena's working hard at her naturopath office, Helen gets a job at the police station with Helena's ex, and Ellie gets a job at the Topaz working with her frenemy Tara. Then all hell breaks loose. Uninvited guests show up for Thanksgiving dinner. Let's just say it's never good when the dead are at your door,

For those of you who missed the book trailer earlier this month, here it is again for you:

The eBook is available at all the usual places, Kobo Chapters, iTunes, Barnes and Nobel etc. Amazon is still on pre-order until Monday because, um .... I don't know. I guess I messed up. So go to Kobo, Canada.

The paperback will be released in advance of that other country's Thanksgiving. Two times the celebration. Two times the turkey.  Thanks for your support, fray. Big smooches.

RELEASE DAY: SAVAGE HUNTER by James A. Hunter

Ah, finally Friday. Time to get through this day and welcome in what is, for us in Canada at least, a long weekend. Hopefully there will be some time to put up the feet and do some reading. Hey, James A. Hunter has a new one to talk about. It's from The Yancy Lazarus Series, it's book 4 and it's called Savage Prophet.  It falls Into the  Adult Urban Fantasy genre.

What's it about?

Legions of murderous undead, Haitian voodoo, and a five-thousand-year old serpent god.
Yeah, ’cause that’s exactly what Yancy Lazarus needs in his life: more complications. As if being the Hand of Fate and the newly appointed guardian over one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse wasn’t headache enough.

All Yancy wants is an easy life on the open road—chock-full of ribs, beer, cigarettes, and smoky bars blaring with gritty blues music—but that just isn’t in the cards. Nope, not anymore. He’s been charged to save the world and now that he’s got a no-shit demon riding shotgun in his head, he’s sorta committed to the cause.
If Yancy can’t sort through this colossal heap of bullshit, he’s coffin bound. But, he’s not dead yet. In fact, he even has a lead.

Turns out one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse—the pale Rider, Death—is slumming around in one of Yancy’s old haunts. In order to corner this new threat, though, Yancy’s gonna have to face some deadly supernatural nightmares from his distant past. And, to make matters worse, he’s not the only one trailing the Pale Rider. A powerful new mage with some serious magical chops, is also aiming to find the Fourth Seal and he’ll do whatever it takes to win. Even if it means hurting those closest to Yancy … Like F.B.I. Agent Nicole Ferraro.

About the Author:

Hey all, my name is James Hunter and I’m a writer, among other things. So just a little about me: I’m a former Marine Corps Sergeant, combat veteran, and pirate hunter (seriously). I’m also a member of The Royal Order of the Shellback—’cause that’s a real thing. I’ve also been a missionary and international aid worker in Bangkok, Thiland. And, a space-ship captain, can’t forget that.

Okay … the last one is only in my imagination.

Currently, I’m a stay at home Dad—taking care of my two kids—while also writing full time, making up absurd stories that I hope people will continue to buy. When I’m not working, writing, or spending time with family, I occasionally eat and sleep.

BOOK BLITZ DAYS: THROUGH THE VEIL by COLLEEN HALVERSON

I'm having a hard time believing it's October. The calendar says it's October, my computer say it's October…but the brain is less forgiving. It's still kind of hanging on to September. It's purely weather procrastination on my part. Here comes the rain again.

Our time together today has been set aside to talk about THROUGH THE VEIL, an  Urban Fantasy novel by Colleen Halverson. This is the first book in the series, and it's only .99 cents if you click on one of the links below.
But first let's take a look at the cover of the book.

Enchanting? Making you think of Ireland, perhaps? Then you're on the right side of the pond, so to speak. Here's the synopsis for you:
Where the fairy tale ends, destiny begins. Elizabeth Tanner is no Tinkerbell, and her life is no fairy tale. Broke and drowning in student loans, the one thing she wants more than anything is a scholarship from the Trinity Foundation. But after the ancient Irish text she's studying turns out to be more than just a book, she becomes their prisoner instead. And when Trinity reveals Elizabeth is half-Fae, she finds herself at the center of a plot to save the magical races of Ireland from a brutal civil war.

As Commander of Trinity's elite warriors, Finn O'Connell isn't used to having his authority challenged. He doesn't know whether to punish or protect the infuriating young woman in his custody. When he discovers the Dark Fae want to use Elizabeth's abilities to control the source of all power in the universe, he'll risk everything to help her. At the mercy of Trinity and enslaved to the Dark Fae, Elizabeth finds herself alone on the wrong side of an Irish myth thousands of years in the making. Refusing to be a pawn in their game, Elizabeth has to fight her way back to the man she loves, but to do so, she must wage her own war against the magic that binds her.

As a child, Colleen Halverson used to play in the woods imagining worlds and telling stories to herself. Growing up on military bases, she found solace in her local library and later decided to make a living sharing the wonders of literature to poor, unsuspecting college freshmen. After backpacking through Ireland and singing in a traditional Irish music band, she earned a PhD in English with a specialization in Irish literature. When she’s not making up stories or teaching, she can be found hiking the rolling hills of the Driftless area of Wisconsin with her husband and two children. THROUGH THE VEIL is her debut novel.

SPOTLIGHT on LIZZIE BORDEN, ZOMBIE HUNTER

October... it's coming in all zombies. We could be doomed.

Today we've got author C.A. Verstraete here to talk about her book LIZZIE BORDEN, Zombie Hunter.

Let us tell you a little bit about it, and where you can get it:

Every family has its secrets…
One hot August morning in 1892, Lizzie Borden picked up an axe and murdered her father and stepmother. Newspapers claim she did it for the oldest of reasons: family conflicts, jealousy and greed. But what if her parents were already dead? What if Lizzie slaughtered them because they’d become zombies?
Thrust into a horrific world where the walking dead are part of a shocking conspiracy to infect not only Fall River, Massachusetts, but also the world beyond, Lizzie battles to protect her sister, Emma, and her hometown from nightmarish ghouls and the evil forces controlling them.

Blog: http://girlzombieauthors.blogspot.com

Amazon: http://getbook.at/LizzieBordenZombieHunter
And now that we've got the business out of the way, let's get down to some fun with C.A. She sat down with Supernatural Central recently to answer a few questions, and it went like this:

SC: What zombie show/TV series do you like and what makes it rise above the rest for you?
CA: I like The Walking Dead, but I’m gonna have to say I really enjoyed watching The Borden Chronicles with Christina Ricci. Funny, ghastly, just a great gruesome twist on Lizzie Borden. I liked it so much I got the DVD and can’t wait to watch it again.
SC:  What is it about zombies and RV's?
CA: Captive audience maybe? Strange, murky memories of vacations past?
SC: What are you working on next that you'd like to tell our viewers about?
CA: I stared a shorter book, more like a novella, set in Lizzie’s hometown. And I’m working on some short Lizzie mysteries until I get to seriously outlining Lizzie Borden, Zombie Hunter 2.

Well, that sounds like you've got some serious fun in store for your fans down the line. Thanks for stopping by Supernatural Central, and stop by again when your next release is out.

BOOK TRAILER: NIGHTMARE ON JACEY STREET

Shameless self-promotion time. I have a new book coming out October 10'th, but in the crazy world of Supernatural Central, I don't even know if I have that date free to promote it. That's the way things go sometimes, best laid plans and all that.

This Saturday is a bit of a harried day, so this is going to be short. Here's the book trailer that Corr Commercials did for me. They support indie writers, and if you want a reasonable priced trailer, give them a shout. I think they captured the essence of the book really well. The eBook is up for pre-sale at all the usual haunts.

Nightmare on Jacey Street is the sequel to Helens-of-Troy. Helens is available on eBook format for free (the link is just to the right) if you`d like to catch up. It`s also available in paperback, but sorry I can`t make that free. It`s also free on Kobo for Canadian peeps. Or you can get it on #instaFreebie.

Enjoy your Saturday, fray.
